Frequency band in
use for satellite transmitiones
Today
satellites do not use only the Ku and C band but also other
band to emit.
Most of these bands aren’t used for TV program and
radio program emitting, but for special causes: i.e. emitting
signals for military purposes- military satellites, emitting
signals for communication- Inmars satellites, bands used
by meteorological satellites- Eumetsat, etc.
All satellites use two frequency bands. One is used for
the uplink- sending the data to the satellites, and the
other one for the downlink-sending data to the earth. We
will now name the bands that are used.
| Name
of the band |
Frequency

Inmarsat,
air and sea traffic. Meteorological serveces. |

Downlink[i]
for comunication satellites. For example ArabSat
and Insat. |
| C
- band |
3700
- 4200 MHz |
Downlink
for comunication satellites. Most satellite
in America, Asia and Africa. |
| C

4500
- 4800 MHz |
Downlink
for military satellites. |

17.300
- 18.100 GHz |
Uplink
for telecomunication satellites. |
| Ka
- band |
18.300
- 21.200 GHz |
Rarely
used. Kopernicus satellites have one of these transponders.
Used for some transmisiones. In the future it will
be more in use because the whole KU band will be
used completly. |
| K
- band |
27.500
- 31.000 GHz |
Uplink
for future telecomunication satellites. |
